Terms of Service — Niagara Local
Version 1.4 — effective 5 October 2026.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
1. What Niagara Local is
A free directory of businesses in the Niagara region. Anyone may browse it. There is no charge to a business for being listed, for correcting a listing, or for being removed.
We are a directory, not a party to anything that happens between you and a business you find here. We do not supply, endorse, guarantee, inspect or vet the goods and services that listed businesses offer.
2. Listings and accuracy
Listings are compiled from information businesses have published about themselves, and are checked on a recorded date. Details change — a business may move, change its hours, or close — and we cannot promise any listing is current or correct.
Please check directly with the business before relying on anything here, particularly an address, a price or opening hours.
If you spot something wrong, tell us at admin@niagaralocal.ca and we will look at it.
3. If the business is yours
Claiming. You may claim a listing if you own the business or are authorised to act for it. We ask you to verify that, and a person reviews every claim before any control is granted. Claiming does not cost anything.
What you may do once verified. Correct your details, set your opening hours and services, choose whether your street address is shown, upload a photograph, and decide whether we may contact you about our marketing services.
What you agree to when you submit information. That it is accurate, that it is yours to submit, and that we may publish it as part of your listing. For a photograph, that you own it or have permission to let us publish it — you are asked to confirm this and to name the source.
Removal. You may have your business taken off Niagara Local entirely, at any time, by asking. We will remove the listing and exclude the business from future publication. You can ask us to restore it later; restoring requires a fresh verified request, so that a removed business is not quietly re-listed.
Claims that are not genuine. We refuse claims we cannot verify, and we may reverse a change and remove access if we later find a claim was false. Impersonating a business is not a grey area — do not do it.
4. MomentumOS, our marketing opportunities partner
Niagara Local uses MomentumOS as a strategic marketing opportunities partner to enhance the site’s offerings for listed businesses. By using the site, you acknowledge and agree that Niagara Local shares certain data — including user engagement metrics, public business listing information and aggregate analytics — with MomentumOS. This sharing enables us to provide targeted marketing solutions and optimize the visibility of local businesses. For more detail on how data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
Marketing contact is separate from your listing. Whether you hear from us or MomentumOS about marketing services is a separate choice you make yourself, and it has no effect on your free listing. Your listing is not better, worse, higher or lower because of that choice, and we will not treat it as leverage.
You may withdraw that consent at any time. Reply STOP to any text message, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to admin@niagaralocal.ca.
5. Using the site properly
Please do not:
- copy, scrape or harvest the directory, in whole or in substantial part, by any automated means;
- use contact details from listings to send unsolicited commercial messages — doing so may itself breach Canada's anti-spam law;
- submit a claim for a business that is not yours;
- upload anything you do not have the right to upload, or anything unlawful, misleading or defamatory;
- attempt to reach non-public parts of the site, test its security, or interfere with its operation.
We may withdraw access from anyone who does these things.
6. What belongs to whom
The site, its design, its text and its compiled arrangement of listings belong to us or our licensors. Material you submit about your own business stays yours — you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish it as part of your listing and in related material, for as long as the listing is published, which ends when you ask for removal.
A business's own name, logo and trade marks remain that business's property. They appear here to identify the business, which is what a directory is for.
7. Links to other sites
Listings link to businesses' own websites and booking pages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
8. Availability
We try to keep the site up but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including individual listings.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for anything that cannot be limited by law, including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: the site is provided as is; we do not give warranties of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose; and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business or lost data arising from your use of the site or from any dealing with a business you found through it.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, and nothing here removes any right you have under mandatory Ontario consumer-protection law.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
