Mark the calendar: the 44th Winter Festival of Lights opens on Saturday, November 14th, 2026 and runs until Sunday, January 10th, 2027.
What to expect
About three million lights decorate a route of more than 8 kilometres through the Niagara Parkway, the Fallsview District and Lundy's Lane. The displays are lit every night from 5 p.m. to midnight, holidays included, and the Winter Festival of Lights is free. It bills itself as Canada's largest free outdoor festival.
Winter fireworks over the falls are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings in November and December. Check the Winter Festival of Lights website for this year's times before you go.
Make it a night out
The Winter Festival of Lights is a big season for local businesses too. Plan dinner at a Niagara Falls restaurant before the lights come on, warm up with a hot chocolate along the way, or stay overnight and see the displays at their best after dark.
Before you go
The full map, schedule and any updates are on Niagara Falls Tourism's Winter Festival of Lights page. Dress for the weather, and give yourself time: the route is long, and the best way to enjoy it is slowly.
